The Riverside is a charming, whitewashed cottage style house with delightful rooms, set in terraced gardens, nestled above the lane leading to Helford Creek. This beautiful part of Cornwall is a place to relax and truly unwind.
A real holiday – the perfect treat
The Riverside is a wonderful 6 bedroomed property. Whether you come on a self-catering or catered basis you will find a warm welcome, your beds made up with freshly laundered sheets, white towels and fragrant toiletries in all the bathrooms, flowers in the rooms. And, the next day, there is the prospect of exploring Cornwall, simply chilling around Helford or using the boats on the river (available April to October). During your stay Mary will come in to do light cleaning and make the beds. She will also give you clean bath towels half way through your week. (We do however, ask that you bring your own beach towels). And there is none of that frantic cleaning at the end of the holiday, you just pack your bags and go home feeling refreshed!
All our well appointed rooms provide a level of comfort well above that normally associated with holiday accommodation. The sitting room, with its large cottage windows, looks over our terrace and the village beyond. Here, you can relax in front of the open fire, watch the television, dvd, do a jigsaw or play one of our board games. The kitchen and dining room have been knocked into one glorious room - all our guests have loved this aspect of The Riverside. The kitchen is well equipped and has an Aga and an electric cooker. There are 2 fridges, a freezer and a Miele dishwasher. If you are still in stand-by "work mode" there is also a phone (with an honesty box) and wifi. On a practical note, the house has a separate laundry room with a washing machine and a drier for your use.
Relax, explore and potter about on the river.
The house is set within pretty terraced gardens and the front terrace, with its fabulous, 14 foot table (made from reclaimed wood, from the old wooden roads in Bali) is the perfect spot from which to watch the world go by. Alternatively, you can utilise the secluded garden area above the buildings, which catches the sun from early morning until late in the day. If you can tear yourself away, there are plenty of places to visit, whether you love beaches, golfing, sailing, fishing, diving, walking, or anything else you want to do.
Animals are not allowed at The Riverside. Smoking is not permitted in the buildings.
Changeover day is usually a Friday. Guests are asked to arrive after 1.30 p.m. and to leave The Riverside by 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure.
